Nida Yasir sounds alarm over 'Dependent Children' culture

Pakistani television host Nida Yasir has ignited an important conversation on parenting and financial independence after urging parents to raise self-reliant children instead of overly dependent adults.

A video from Nida Yasir's recent television appearance has gone viral across social media, where she openly discussed the growing trend of parents continuing to financially support their children well into adulthood.

Expressing concern over the mindset, Nida said:

"It has become a trend that even 40 year old sons are still being supported by their parents. They get married even before becoming financially stable, and parents say, 'We'll take care of him, and we'll support his wife too.' This mindset needs to change."

Drawing a comparison with Western societies, the television host highlighted the importance of teaching children responsibility from an early age.

"In many Western countries, children start working part-time around the age of 14. By the time they turn 18, many of them are paying their own rent and education expenses. Here, however, parents continue supporting their children for as long as they possibly can."

She also pointed out the contrast that exists in Pakistani society, where some children are forced to become breadwinners at a very young age, while others remain financially dependent on their parents even after marriage.

"On one hand, a child who should be playing is forced to support an entire family. On the other hand, there are married men in their 40s and even 50s who still rely on their father's income. Neither extreme is healthy."

Nida stressed that parents' responsibilities go beyond providing education.

"Along with giving our children degrees, it is our duty to teach them how to become independent, how to stand on their own feet, and how to move in the right direction in life."

Her remarks quickly gained traction online, with many viewers agreeing that financial independence and responsibility should be encouraged from a young age.
