Dr Syed Jaffar Ahmed Sunday while presenting a declaration at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi on the occasion of the World Urdu Conference demanded that steps be taken for the elimination of environmental pollution, voices be raised for the Kashmiris, and democracy be promoted, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Many famous and renowned personalities like Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori, Dr Zia-ul-Hassan, Nauman-ul-Haq, Zafar Masood, Sohail Waraich, and others addressed the conference on the fourth and the last day.

Dr Syed Jaffar Ahmed moved the declaration among the audience who passed it unanimously in which they demanded that steps be taken for the reduction and elimination of Environmental pollution as we have faced the consequences in the form of a flood. Voices are raised for the people of Kashmir. Democracy be promoted as the whole nation is a believer of democracy. Work for the betterment and well-being and success of the young generation. Urdu translation classes be set up in every institute as every language in Pakistan holds the same importance. The educational budget be increased. Urdu be made the official language. The prices of paper be looked upon. Library culture be promoted in the country. The limited resources be used for the welfare of the public instead of arms.

Earlier, Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori addressed the participants and said that he feels ashamed that people more famous than him are present on the stage and he is the Chief Guest.

He said that he is trying his best to be the voice of the people below for the people above and the authorities. He added to the demands of the above-stated declaration that the invitation to the next conference is sent in Urdu instead of English.

Kamran Tesori concluded the final session of the World Urdu Conference with his speech by reading a poem.

Pakistani script-writer and humorist Anwar Maqsood was a very major and main part of the World Urdu Conference as the last session “Pakistan in the 21st century” was attributed with his name.

Anwar Maqsood, while addressing the conference paid tribute to legendary writer Syed Ahmed Shah commonly known as Patras Bokhari. He stated that a “Sitara-e-Imtiaz is not at all needed to appreciate the works of Ahmed Shah as it is only a medal given to people who have not even done anything.

He criticized the Prime Minister of Pakistan saying that “How much will you earn, how much will you steal. You have begged from the leaders of at least six or seven countries and the poor say that he should beg for himself and not destroy their names.”

Anwar Maqsood continued saying that Urdu conferences having been taking place here for the last 15 years and poets, writers have been coming here from across the world including India. He said that he asked Patras Bokhari who is coming from India this time and he replied saying that threats are coming this time. He said that Bokhari told him to appreciate the new Army chief and he said that everyone is already appreciating him, what should I say to appreciate him. He said that Patras told him that he has only 30 minutes left, he asked how he knows and he replied that may Allah give you a long life but you have been given only 30 minutes for the speech in which you have to talk about Pakistan.

He concluded his address saying that “for my lifetime of 83 years, I have always removed my clothes myself and I do not want to fall victim to the Punjab Police.”

The renowned anchorperson Sohail Waraich said in his speech that he is thankful to all the guests including Kamran Tesori, Iftikhar Arif, Kishwar Naheed and Amjad Islam Amjad to participate. He said that he is here to guarantee that this conference has made really deep impact which will spread to places as the biggest thing is that people from all over Pakistan have participated in this conference. He said that this conference provided a platform from where people will learn a lot and teach others also.

He appreciated the management and administration arrangements. He jokingly said that the Punjab Police also works well “sometimes” and this conference will be conducted in Lahore as well. He continued by saying that all the guests will also go to Lahore for the conference but at their own expense.
