Injured, incapacitated cops’ aid package to be hiked to Rs2.5m, Rs10m
Punjab IGP says govt will provide electric wheelchairs, electric beds to wounded police personnel, besides their treatment inside, outside country on govt expenses

In a good news for police personnel who go incapacitated in the line of duty, Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has announced that they will be supported by government in their rehabilitation and getting artificial organs to convert their disability to ability, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
They will also be given electric wheel chairs and electric beds. The summary, to enhance financial support from Rs 1 million to Rs2.5million for injured and Rs 10 million for personnel who are incapacitated during discharging their official duties, has been sent to the government for approval.
As per new package, in line with the martyred police personnel for whom a special post is created, there would be created a special post for those cops too who are incapacitated completely discharging their official duties. In that way, they will get salary till their retirement age and new recruitment could also be made against their posts. Government will also provide experts’ physiotherapy facility to injured cops. They will also get better medical package. Every possible step will be taken for their treatment inside and outside the country on govt expenses. IG Punjab had issued this order to give a better medical package during his meeting with constable Muhammad Rizwan.
Constable Muhammad Rizwan had sustained critical bullet injuries during police encounter with dacoits in Sheikhupura and got incapacitated.
Additional IG Finance and Welfare has sent recommendations in this regard to IG Punjab for approval.
