Dense fog forces closure of multiple motorways across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Dense fog has prompted authorities to temporarily close several motorways across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including M1 from Peshawar to Rashakai, M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan for heavy vehicles, M3 from Samundri to Rajana, and the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway M11, officials said on Sunday.

Syed Imran Ahmed, spokesperson for the Motorway Police Central Region, urged motorists to strictly follow lane discipline and avoid travelling in foggy conditions unless absolutely necessary.

He advised that safe travel times during fog are between 10 am and 6 pm and reminded drivers to use fog lights, maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, and avoid speeding.

“Lane violations in fog can lead to dangerous accidents. The purpose of closing the motorway is to protect the lives and property of the public,” Ahmed said.

Motorway police have also urged travellers to contact helpline 130 for guidance and assistance.
