FBR seals two chutes at Safina Sugar Mills over law violations

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sealed two chutes at Safina Sugar Mills for failing to comply with legal requirements, officials said on Sunday.

The mill management reportedly did not install the mandatory digital eye cameras and NVR systems on the chutes, prompting the enforcement action.

Following instructions from the Prime Minister, the FBR introduced a modern monitoring system to oversee sugar production after the start of the sugarcane crushing season. Officials have been deployed in all sugar mills, with the entire system and staff being monitored via CCTV cameras.

Field inspections are also being carried out by the Inland Revenue Enforcement Network, which is supervising the entire sugar supply line process to ensure compliance.

The Government of Pakistan has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against tax evasion and non-compliance in the sugar sector.

Authorities said these measures are part of a broader initiative to strengthen tax enforcement and protect government revenues. After the collection of dues, monitoring will continue to ensure a regular supply of sugar to consumers.
