Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat revealed that over 46,000 school teachers are surplus in Punjab province, reported 24NewsHD TV on Friday.

He directed relevant officials to take effective for implementation on the rationalization policy.

The Provincial Education Minister said that over 46,000 school teachers are deputed in 27,000 schools across the Punjab.

He said that 27,000 surplus school teachers will be transferred to 33,000 schools across the province.

Rana Sikandar Hayat said that 20948 extra teachers are performing their duties in 13,000 primary schools of the province.

The Provincial Education Minister said as per the student-teacher ratio 23648 teachers are required for 13846 primary schools in Punjab.

Rana Sikandar Hayat said that 12533 surplus teachers are performing their duties in 5930 elementary schools of the Punjab.

He said that 18017 teachers are required for 15884 elementary schools in the province.

Rana Sikandar Hayat said that the provincial government is bearing the loss of billions of rupees due to surplus teachers.

Implementation of the rationalization policy will pave the way to evade this loss.

The Provincial Education Minister said that necessary work regarding the implementation of the Rationalization Policy will be completed by July 15, 2025.

He said that the applications will be received till July 20, 2025. The first phase of the rationalization policy will be completed after July 23, 2025.

Rana Sikandar Hayat said that the provincial government will save billions of rupees by introducing a rationalization policy.
