4-member gang impersonating as cop, govt officers held
Islamabad police have arrested a 4-member gang, including a woman who used to robe citizens by impersonating as police and government officers. According to police, the suspects were arrested near Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences PIMS after caught red-handed.
Investigators said the woman pretend to be a nurse, ask passersby for a lift before luring them to deserted streets. Other members of the gang, posing as police officers and government officials, would then arrive at the scene and rob the victims at gunpoint. Police said the suspects were wanted in multiple robbery cases involving impersonator of law enforcement personnel.
Cash, weapons allegedly used in the crimes and a wireless communication set were recovered from the suspect’s possession.
During initial interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed their involvement in several robberies. Police at Karachi Company Police Station have registered a case and launched further legal proceedings.
