Dakota Johnson shines bright in NYC amid busy promo tour
Hollywood star Dakota Johnson turned heads in Tribeca this week as she stepped out looking effortlessly chic in an all-black ensemble, embracing the early summer sunshine in Manhattan.
The 35-year-old actress, currently promoting her new film Materialists, set to release later this June, was spotted wearing straight-leg jeans and a fitted black bodysuit. She completed the casual yet sophisticated look with a sleek leather trench coat, matching black high heels, sunglasses, and hooped gold earrings, offering photographers a soft smile as she made her way through the city.
Daughter of screen legend Melanie Griffith, Johnson has been making waves on the international film circuit. Just weeks ago, she dazzled at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, where she reunited with close friend Jennifer Lawrence, 34, for a screening of Lawrence’s film Die My Love.
The duo, both former partners of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, enjoyed a stylish dinner together in New York this past weekend. Paparazzi captured them stepping out of a car en route to an upscale restaurant, both dressed in complementary dark-toned outfits—Lawrence in head-to-toe black and Johnson in a black top, brown blazer, and grey oversized trousers.
At Cannes, the friends kept up with the festival’s new modesty dress code while maintaining glamour. Lawrence wore a wrap-around silky black dress accented with silver and green jewellery, while Johnson channelled '70s chic with a patterned brown jacket and dress, pairing it with statement brown sunglasses.
Dakota capped her Cannes appearance with a show-stopping look at the 2025 Kering Women In Motion Awards, dazzling in a Gucci gown and chandelier earrings, her dark hair elegantly tied up. The event also featured stars like Halle Berry and celebrated the accomplishments of women in film.
Johnson was in Cannes to promote her upcoming project Splitsville, which she co-produced via her own company, TeaTime Pictures.
