Shahzad Roy’s ‘Wall of Secrets’ exposed children’s untold stories
Pakistani singer, social activist and education reform advocate Shahzad Roy is receiving widespread praise from celebrities, parents and social media users after promoting the idea of introducing a “Wall of Secrets” in schools, a unique initiative designed to help children’s express thoughts and feelings they may be unable or afraid to share openly.
In a recently shared video, Shahzad Roy explained why he believes every school should have a Wall of Secrets, describing it as a powerful tool for understanding the hidden struggles children often face.
According to Shahzad, years of experience working with schools have shown that many children do not openly speak about sensitive issues, including emotional distress, bullying, abuse or even sexual abuse.
He said that while children may hesitate to discuss such matters directly, they often find it easier to communicate through art, drawings and anonymous messages.

“Art is a very powerful medium,” Shahzad explained. “Many children cannot properly express what they are going through, and sometimes they feel too shy or afraid to speak. Through the Wall of Secrets, they can tell us what is in their hearts.”
To demonstrate the impact of the initiative, Shahzad shared examples of anonymous messages and artwork displayed on the wall.
One child wrote, “I hate my Qaari Sahab.”
Another message revealed deep emotional pain, stating, “I am broken from inside by the judgment of people.”
A different student shared feeling of loneliness, writing, “I don’t have any best friend because I don’t know how to make a best friend.”

One child even expressed discomfort about family gatherings through artwork accompanied by the message, “I don’t like weddings. I hate this.”
Shahzad said that such messages provide valuable insight into children's emotional well-being and help schools identify concerns that might otherwise remain hidden.
He further revealed that schools associated with the initiative have also placed suggestion and concern boxes in different areas, allowing students to confidentially share their thoughts, worries and experiences directly with school management.
The initiative has received praise from social media users, parents, educators and celebrities, many of whom described it as a meaningful step toward understanding the emotional and psychological challenges faced by students.
