Apple unveils new iPad Air with M3 Chip: Faster performance, new colors, and magic keyboard

Apple has launched its latest iPad Air, equipped with the powerful M3 chip, just days after releasing a budget-friendly iPhone 16e. The tech giant announced the new tablet on Tuesday, teasing the launch with a cryptic post from CEO Tim Cook on X that read, “There’s something in the air.”

The new iPad Air promises to be a “faster, more powerful” device, designed to support Apple Intelligence and deliver enhanced performance. According to Apple, the M3 chip brings advanced graphics architecture to the iPad Air for the first time, offering a significant boost in efficiency and portability.

The company claims the new model is nearly twice as fast as the iPad Air with the M1 chip and up to 3.5 times faster than the A14 Bionic version, enabling more realistic gaming experiences with improved lighting, reflections, and shadows.

Features, Sizes, and Colors

The iPad Air will be available in two sizes—11-inch and 13-inch—and four stylish colors: blue, purple, space gray, and starlight. It is compatible with the Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C), making it ideal for students, professionals, and creatives. The device also features advanced cameras, fast 5G connectivity, and the A16 chip, which Apple says provides a 30 percent performance boost over the previous generation while maintaining all-day battery life.

New Magic Keyboard

Alongside the iPad Air, Apple introduced a new Magic Keyboard designed specifically for the tablet. The keyboard features a larger built-in trackpad, a 14-key function row for quick access to controls like screen brightness and volume, and a magnetic attachment system that connects power and data instantly without Bluetooth. Priced lower than previous models, the Magic Keyboard aims to enhance the iPad Air’s versatility for productivity on the go.

Pricing and Storage

The new iPad Air starts at $599 for the 11−inch model and $799 for the 13-inch version.

The Magic Keyboard is sold separately, starting at $269 for the 11−inch model and $319 for the 13-inch model.

Both devices will be available for pre-order starting Tuesday, with sales beginning March 12.

The iPad Air offers double the starting storage of its predecessor, with options ranging from 128GB to 1TB. Apple executive Bob Borchers highlighted the tablet’s appeal, stating, “iPad Air is so popular because of its unmatched combination of powerful performance, portability, and support for advanced accessories, all at an affordable price.”

A Week of New Releases

The iPad Air launch follows Apple’s recent release of the iPhone 16e, a budget-friendly smartphone starting at $599. The iPhone 16e features a larger screen, Face ID, a USB-C charging port, and a 48-megapixel rear camera, alongside Apple’s first cellular modem, the Apple C1.
