Federal bureaucrats’ promotion meeting called after two-year delay

After a two-year delay, the High Powered Selection Board meeting for the promotion of federal bureaucrats from Grade 21 to 22 has finally been scheduled for tomorrow at 11 AM at the Prime Minister’s Office. The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also attending as a board member.

According to sources, the board will review promotions for more than 40 senior bureaucrats from various federal departments. Prominent names under consideration for promotion to Grade 22 include Chairman FBR Rashid Mahmood, Federal Secretary Health Nadeem Mehboob, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, Secretary to the Prime Minister Asadur Rehman Gilani, Secretary Education Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani, Additional Secretary in Charge Petroleum Division Momin Agha, and Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman.

Other senior officials in contention for promotion include Irum Bukhari, Sajid Baloch, Jawdat Ayaz, Ambrain Raza, Usman Akhtar Bajwa, Mosaddeq Ahmed Khan, Atta-ur-Rehman, Wasim Ajmal Chaudhry, Dawood Muhammad, Shakeel Ahmed Mangnejo, and Ahmed Mukarram from the Police Service. Additionally, Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, Muhammad Farooq Mazhar, Asif Saifullah Paracha, and Imran Yaqoob Minhas will also be considered.

This meeting marks the first High Powered Selection Board session since March 2023, ending a long-standing delay in bureaucratic promotions. The outcome of the meeting is expected to fill key leadership positions across federal institutions.
