Persistent snowfall closes educational institutions in AJK cities, Abbottabad, Galyat  

Academic activities in the country’s northern areas have been badly hit as relentless snowfall has forced the closure of educational institutions in  several cities of Azad Kashmir, Galyat and Abbottabad for four days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday. 

On the other hand, educational institutions in Muzaffarabad and Neelum Valley will remain closed today.

Meanwhile, the entry of tourists in Murree has been banned following heavy snowfall at the hill station, which is extremely popular with tourists. 

The expressway, from Toll Plaza to Lower Topa, has been closed for traffic, while traffic was suspended on the Karakoram Highway due to a landslide.   

Rain in Punjab

On the other hand, different parts of Punjab again received rain on Tuesday morning.

Showers, accompanied by strong winds, were reported from Lahore, Shakargarh, Narowal, Gujranwala, Nowshera Virkan, Mananwala, Muridke, Nankana Sahib, Sarai Mughal and other areas. 

Light to moderate rainfall was reported from different localities of Lahore, which made the weather pleasant again. 

Areas like The Mall, Jail Road, Karim Park, Data Darbar, Walled City, northern Lahore, Ravi Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Multan Road, Samanabad, Chowburji, Green Town, Model Town, Johar Town, Islampura, Band Road, Shahdara, Shahdara Town, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, Kalima Chowk, Gulberg received rain. 

The level of moisture in the air in the city was recorded at 90 per cent in the morning.

The weather department forecast that the maximum temperature in the city would touch 21 degrees Celsius mark, while it would remain 9 degrees Celsius on the minimum side. 

Cool breeze was blowing at the speed of five kilometers per hour.
