Punjab CM Maryam calls apex committee meeting today

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has called the provincial apex committee meeting today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Overall law and order situation in the province would come under discussion at the meeting.

The meeting will also take stock of security-related matters.

On Tuesday, the Punjab Home Department submitted a comprehensive report to the chief minister on the Afghan nationals, who were living in Pakistan illegally and were deported to their country.

The report showed that over 507,000 illegal Afghan nationals were checked from October 22, 2025 till this date.

The report further revealed that 366,000 operations were carried at public places, 228,000 locations and 184,000 residential areas.

Around 43,960 markets, including carpet markets, cloth markets, dry fruit markets, other business locations and brick kilns were also searched.

The report revealed that 2339 illegal Afghans were caught while they were doing businesses in Pakistan.

The report stated that 698 properties were rented to Afghan nationals and 671 cases were registered against property owners.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed to expedite the process to identify and deport the Afghan nationals.
