President Alvi to attend virtual Summit of Non-Aligned Movement

President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi will represent Pakistan at the virtual Summit of Non-Aligned Movement being held Monday.
The Summit will conclude with a political declaration of the movement "Uniting Against #COVIDー19"
The Special Online Summit of the Heads of State & Govt of NAM Member States has been convened at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.
It is pertinent to note that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also participate in the virtual summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) that is being held to enhance coordination among member states battling deadly coronavirus outbreak.
NAM was established in 1961 in Belgrade, SR Serbia, Yugoslavia through an initiative of the Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the Yugoslavia President Josip Broz Tito.
The countries of the Non-Aligned Movement represent nearly two-thirds of the United Nations' members and contain 55% of the world population.
