PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan had divorced Reham Khan in 2015 at Bushra Bibi’s request and sent divorce to her by email when she was abroad, Awn Chaudhry testified in a local court in Islamabad on Thursday in connection with former first couple’s Nikah case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Former PTI leader Awn Chaudhry made the statement before Senior Civil Judge Nasrem Minullah in a petition seeking legal action against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman for marrying his present wife while she was reportedly on Iddat.

The court took oath from Awn Chaudhary before recording the statement. 

In his statement before the court, Awn Chaudhry said he had close relations with Imran Khan as he had served him as both his personal and political secretary. 

According to Awn Chaudhry, Imran Khan divorced Reham Khan in 2015 on the request of Bushra Bibi and divorce was sent to Reham Khan while she was abroad.

Bushra Bibi said to Imran Khan that it was better for him to divorce Reham Khan immediately, he added 

Imran Khan had suffered a lot mentally after the divorce, said Awn Chaudhry, adding that on December 31, 2017, Imran Khan had informed him that his nikah with Bushra Bibi is tomorrow, Awn Chaudhry said.

He further stated that Imran Khan asked him to make arrangements for nikah on January 1, 2018, to which he expressed his surprise saying, “Bushra Bibi is already married.”

However, Awn Chaudhry recalled, the former premier told him that Bushra Bibi had been divorced. 

Believing Imran Khan's words, I took Mufti Saeed and Zulfi Bukhari to Lahore, and on January 1, 2018, Imran Khan’s nikah was solemnized with Bushra Bibi, he added.
