Law will prevail in One Constitution Avenue case, says Mohsin Naqvi

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said his position on the One Constitution Avenue tower project remained unchanged from day one, stating that the property was sold illegally from the outset, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking informally to journalists in Lahore on Monday, Mohsin Naqvi said the stance of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) was also clear on the issue that the project was sold unlawfully.

The interior minister added that a committee has now been constituted on the matter and they will present their stance before it, expressing the confidence that the law will prevail.

Mohsin Naqvi stressed that the law must be applied to all equally, saying it cannot be different for the poor and the rich.

He described the case as one of the biggest scams in Pakistan’s history, alleging that politicians, bureaucrats, judges and bankers were all involved.

The interior minister claimed that for 21 years money was distributed and received by those linked to the matter. He further said that attention should not only be on the building itself but also on those individuals who caused harm to the country.

The minister added that he would fully support the position taken by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on the matter.

It may be mentioned here that on 1 May 2026, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had formed a high-level committee to review the issue of the One Constitution Avenue tower project.

The committee is headed by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and consisted of Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, along with the cabinet and commerce secretaries.

The committee has been asked to examine all aspects of the case and submit a detailed report within one week.
