Punjab police arrest 58,964 proclaimed offenders in four months
During the ongoing major crackdown against criminals, the Punjab police have arrested 58,964 proclaimed offenders in the first four months of the current year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
A spokesman of the Punjab police said that 16,000 criminals of A category and 42,670 accused of B category have been arrested.
The spokesman further revealed that 20,921 court offenders were also arrested during the campaign. Among those, 3017 are in the A category, and 17,904 of B category.
The police spokesman said that 16,606 habitual criminals were arrested in which 4595 criminals of A category and 7009 habitual criminals of B category were arrested.
37 proclaimed offenders who were hiding outside Pakistan and were wanted in serious criminal cases were also arrested and shifted back to Pakistan.
The spokesman said that 11315 proclaimed offenders, 6758 court offenders, and 2682 habitual offenders were arrested during the crackdown.
