KP CM Sohail Afridi, Mahmood Khan Achakzai discuss 27th Amendment, military operations and provincial rights

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi Tuesday called on Mahmood Khan Achakzai at his residence, where the two leaders discussed national and political developments, including concerns over the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment and its potential impact on provincial autonomy.

The meeting was attended by Senator Allama Nasir Abbas, the nominated opposition leader in the Senate, along with several PTI and allied leaders including Junaid Akbar, PTI KP President; Atif Khan MNA; Ali Asghar Khan MNA; Akhunzada Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai; and PTI’s legal representatives Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry and Irfan Saleem. MNA Dr. Amjad and MNA Arbab Sher Ali were also present.

During the meeting, participants discussed the military operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the hardships being faced by the local population. Both leaders expressed concern over decisions “being made behind closed doors” without consultation with the provinces.

The discussion also touched upon the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, with participants lamenting that the additional share promised to the former FATA region had yet to be fulfilled. They warned that further tampering with the NFC formula could prove dangerous for national unity.

Matters related to peace and security in the Kurram district and plans for a peace jirga in Peshawar were also reviewed.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi assured Mahmood Khan Achakzai that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will fully support all constitutional rights of the province and align itself with the Movement to Protect the Constitution of Pakistan.
