PM Shehbaz Sharif to visit Azerbaijan on Nov 8 to attend Victory Day celebrations
Preparations are underway for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s one-day visit to Azerbaijan, scheduled for November 8, diplomatic sources confirmed Tuesday.
During his trip, the Prime Minister will attend Azerbaijan’s Victory Day celebrations in Baku, commemorating the country’s liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh and its victory over Armenia.
According to diplomatic sources, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also be in Baku to participate in the national celebrations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to hold meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and other senior Azerbaijani officials to discuss bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and energy collaboration.
The two leaders last met in September this year on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China.
Sources added that President Ilham Aliyev is expected to visit Pakistan in the coming months, a move seen as part of growing cooperation between the two countries.
Pakistan and Turkey have been strong supporters of Azerbaijan during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and the visit is being viewed as another step towards deepening strategic, economic, and defense ties among the three nations.
