President Zardari, Tajik President Rahmon discuss matters of mutual interest in Doha

President Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Doha on the sidelines of the 2nd World Summit for Social Development, reported 24NewsHd TV channel.

During the meeting, President Zardari said that Pakistan attaches great importance to relations with Tajikistan based on historical, cultural and linguistic ties.

The President reiterated his commitment to further promote bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, energy, defense and public relations.

President Zardari described the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed in 2024 as a manifestation of the depth of relations between the two countries.

He said the revival of the CASA-1000 project is an important step towards shared prosperity.

The President invited Tajikistan to explore new opportunities for trade and connectivity through Pakistan and consider resuming direct flights.

President Zardari appreciated the joint military exercise “Dosti-II” held in August 2025 and offered assistance in defense cooperation and capacity building.

The two leaders also discussed regional and global issues.

The President of Tajikistan invited President Asif Ali Zardari to visit Tajikistan, which the President accepted.

First Lady Bibi Asifa Bhutto Zardari, Chairman People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar were also present at the meeting.
