PPP’s Nadeem Afzal Chan questions Punjab CM’s governance

As an exchange of hot words between the PML-N and the PPP leaders has intensified, PPP’s Secretary Information Nadeem Afzal Chan on Saturday asked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as to how and when relief would be provided to the flood-hit people of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking to the 24News TV channel reporter Hassan Ali, he said that on the IMF’s insistence, wheat was not purchased from the farmers. 

He further asked as to why the decision to import sugar was taken before the start of the sugarcane crushing season.

Chan also questioned the privatization of educational and health institutions in Punjab. “I want CM Maryam to answer my questions. If she does so, I will seek an apology from her,” he said, and added that the chief minister lashed out at her opponents and critics every other day, but did not answer the questions put to her.  

“PPP stands with the people of the Punjab,” he said, adding, “Our alliance is with the masses. If that is broken, what is the use of an alliance with the PML-N?”

The decision, the PPP stalwart went on to say, whether to remain the government’s ally or part ways with it would be taken by the party’s central executive committee.
