Karachi Defence violence case exposes alleged police negligence, misuse of authority

An inquiry into the alleged assault of a brother and sister by an influential woman and her associates in Karachi’s Defence area has found serious negligence and alleged misuse of authority, 24News HD TV reported on Friday. 

According to sources, the committee has completed its inquiry report and forwarded it to the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police.

According to the findings, SSP Korangi Fida Janwari has also been held responsible for negligence in the case.

The committee has recommended departmental action against him under the Efficiency and Discipline Rules, 2020.

The report stated that all the people seen allegedly assaulting the affected family in the video footage were close relatives of SSP Fida Janwari.

It said administrative negligence was also observed in the handling of the case.

The inquiry recommended that the case registered against the affected family be cancelled under B-Class, while a fresh case should be registered on the complaint of the victims.

It also recommended legal action against two women and a man clearly visible in the video footage allegedly involved in the assault.

The committee has further recommended departmental action against four officials of Korangi district in connection with the incident.

In addition, action has been recommended against Darakshan SHO Rashid Ali, Sub-Inspector of Investigation Imran, and mobile officer Aftab Mangi.

The inquiry committee maintained that a transparent investigation had been conducted into all aspects of the incident and that responsibility had been determined on the basis of the available evidence.
