Lahore gets heavy rain as 8th monsoon spell continues across Punjab

Heavy rain in different parts of Lahore has broken the recent heat, with cool winds and showers making the weather pleasant across the city, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
Rain was reported in Town Ship, Iqbal Town, Raiwind, Thokar Niaz Baig, Mall Road and areas around the Lahore High Court. The temperature in Lahore was recorded at 30°C.
More rain is expected during the night as the eighth monsoon spell is forecast to continue until tomorrow, according to the Meteorological Department.
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore has released rainfall figures showing that Johar Town received the highest amount of rain, with 98 mm recorded.
Garden Town received 40 mm, while 39 mm was recorded in Nishtar Town and 31.2 mm in Farukh Abad.
Rainfall in other parts of the city included 30.2 mm in Gulshan-e-Ravi, 14.8 mm in Shahdara, 12.6 mm in Saggian and 12.8 mm at Shadbagh Disposal.
Samanabad received 8.2 mm of rain, while 6.2 mm was recorded at Pani Wala Talab. Gulberg received 3 mm, with another 3 mm recorded in Iqbal Town, and Upper Mall received 1 mm of rainfall.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a rain alert for Lahore, Rawalpindi and several other districts across the province.
PDMA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa directed deputy commissioners across Punjab to ensure that relevant departments remain alert and prepared to deal with any emergency situation.
Jappa said the current spell of rain was expected to continue until September 6 and urged the authorities to take all necessary precautionary measures.
