Finance Minister Aurganzeb meets global tech leaders on $1bn plan

Global interest in Pakistan’s digital economy is on the rise as leading international companies continue to invest in the country, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to the report, during a recent meeting with Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, representatives from Jazz and Veon presented a $1 billion investment plan aimed at expanding connectivity, digital infrastructure, and platform development over the next three years.

The Veon Group has invested more than $11 billion in Pakistan over the past three decades, contributing over 500 billion rupees to the national treasury.

The recent acquisition of an additional 190 megahertz spectrum, costing $239 million, is expected to strengthen networks and pave the way for the rollout of 5G and other advanced digital services.

Through Jazz’s integrated digital ecosystem, over 100 million users in Pakistan are currently receiving connectivity, fintech, and other digital services.

Sources said the latest investment will enhance financial inclusion, broaden the formal economy, and drive investment-led economic growth.

Experts highlight that this development will significantly strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global digital economy while improving access to modern technologies for businesses and consumers alike.
