PTI slams 'fascist environment', vows to resist ‘Law of the Jungle’

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja, speaking to the media at a checkpoint near Adiala Jail Tuesday, strongly condemned what he described as a “fascist” and “lawless” environment surrounding their peaceful protest to mark the two-year imprisonment of PTI’s founder.

Raja criticised authorities for blocking access despite the group holding a High Court order permitting the protest. “We came out to express our opinion peacefully,” he said. “But our meetings were stopped, our lawful right ignored. This is not democracy, it’s lawlessness. People are being treated like animals.”

He noted that even ordinary citizens were being prevented from reaching their homes due to the heavy-handed security blockade. “We will continue to speak the truth,” Raja declared. “We will speak while looking the oppressor in the eye. This cruel system feeds off the poor — and we stand against it.”

He didn’t mince words about the wider implications: “If the rule of law collapses, only the law of the jungle remains.”

Meanwhile, veteran politician and alliance partner Mahmood Khan Achakzai echoed similar concerns. “Those who truly love Pakistan must work to rid the country of this government,” he stated. “We have to defend the constitution, peacefully and without hate.”

Achakzai clarified that their movement holds no personal vendetta. “We don’t abuse anyone, and we have no enmity with Shehbaz Sharif or Ayaz Sadiq,” he added. “Our fight is against injustice, not individuals.”
