Over 3,100 new coronavirus cases, 44 deaths in Pakistan
Pakistan continued reporting over 3,000 new coronavirus cases daily as the overall number increased to 413,191, showed the latest data released by National Command and Operation Centre on Saturday morning.
Out of the 3,119 cases recorded during the past 24 hours (Friday), 1,664 were in Sindh followed by 540 in Punjab, 419 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 353 in Islamabad, which represents the trend witnessed during the second wave of this pandemic.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the country reached 8,303 after another 44 people died of the infection. Unlike the new cases, the coronavirus pandemic is proving to be deadlier in Punjab with 22 more deaths. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh saw another 10 and eight patients dying during the same period.
With the addition of latest numbers, the coronavirus pandemic-related figures for different regions currently stand at:
Sindh 180,904 cases and 2,991 deaths, Punjab 122,293 cases and 3,137 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 48,683 cases and 1,399 deaths, Islamabad 31,992 cases and 334 deaths, Balochistan 17,392 cases and 169 deaths, Azad Kashmir 7,219 cases and 175 deaths, Gilgit Baltistan 4,708 cases and 98 deaths.
As far as the active coronavirus cases are concerned, the number currently stands at 52,359 out of which 2,441 are in a critical condition and being treated in intensive care units of different hospitals.
On the other hand, the number of people fully recovering from the coronavirus infection has increased to 352,529 with the addition of 2,224 during the past 24 hours.
Also on Friday, 41,115 more tests were administered in different parts of the country as part of the ongoing efforts to identify, isolate and trace new coronavirus cases to control the infection rate, increasing the overall number to 5,713,341.
