Smog refuses to relent as Lahore again ranked as world’s most-polluted city

Lahore, the city of gardens, which emerged as the ninth most-polluted city in the world in the early hours of Tuesday, later rose to the top position as its air quality index (AQI) reached 250, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Karachi, with AQI 185, came next followed by Indian capital New Delhi with AQI 181.

The air quality over the Polo Ground in Lahore Cantonment was worst as AQI there reached 352 followed by FAST University where AQI was recorded at 319.

WWF-Pakistan, with AQI recorded at 284, stood on the third position.

Similarly, AQI over both the US consulate and Lahore American School stood at 257.

Minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was expected to go up to 23 degrees Celsius later in the day.

The level of humidity in the air stood at 95 per cent in the morning, while breeze was blowing at the speed of 3 kilometers per hour.

The Met Office forecast dry weather for the provincial capital during the next 24 hours.

This year’s coldest night in Karachi

Last night was this year’s coldest in Karachi as the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 14 degrees Celsius.

The humidity level in the air was recorded at 51 per cent.
