CM Maryam eyes global markets for potato exports

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that her government is looking for access to new global markets for potato exports, which is aimed at to ensure stability in potato prices and proper compensation to farmers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a post uploaded on X platform on Thursday, Maryam Nawaz said there is an important progress on potato exports with Kazakhstan.

Punjab government is in constant contact with the federal government to ensure effective measures for potato exports, Maryam said.

She said Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani will hold important meetings in Islamabad next week regarding potato exports.

She said Punjab's potato production record crossed historic milestone. Punjab's current season has produced record crop of 12 million metric tons, she added. 

Potato production has increased by 25 percent compared to last year, Maryam Nawaz said.
