Harry Potter-famed JK Rowling speaks about rumoured links to Jeffrey Epstein

British author JK Rowling has spoken out to deny online speculation connecting her to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, calling the claims completely unfounded.

The controversy emerged after millions of US Department of Justice documents related to Epstein were made public, reigniting scrutiny of alleged links between Epstein and several well-known figures. Among the rumours circulating on social media was a claim that Rowling had invited Epstein to the Broadway premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Addressing the matter directly on X, the Harry Potter author firmly rejected the allegation. “This is beyond silly,” Rowling wrote, adding that neither she nor anyone associated with her had ever met, communicated with, or invited Epstein to any event.

Media reports later clarified that any invitation connected to Epstein did not originate from Rowling. According to Deadline, the request for tickets to the Broadway opening was made through Epstein’s associate, Peggy Siegel, and directed to the play’s producer, Colin Callender.

Callender reportedly said he was unaware of the identity of the so-called “very important friend” on whose behalf the request was made. He also confirmed that Epstein’s name was not on the official guest list.

The documents further revealed that Epstein ultimately did not attend the Broadway performance.

The clarification has effectively dispelled claims of Rowling’s involvement, with no evidence showing any direct or indirect contact between the author and Epstein.
