December 2025 was seventh warmest December in Pakistan, says Met Office

December 2025 was the seventh warmest December in Pakistan in the last 65 years, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

As per the report released by the weather department on Monday, above normal day and night temperatures were recorded during the period under review.

The report further stated that the weather remained extraordinarily warm in Sindh and Balochistan during December, while less rain was recorded in Karachi and other parts of the country during the month.

The report went on to say that rise in temperatures was the consequence of the phenomenon of climate change.

Climate change has had a major impact on Pakistan during the last two decades or so as at times devastating floods were witnessed across the country, while there were times when cities like Karachi remained in the grip of heatwave.

Similarly, there were also periods of drought, which showed that the country was most vulnerable to climate change.

These shifts disrupt ecosystems, damage infrastructure, displace millions, and pose significant economic and security risks, impacting food and water supplies despite Pakistan's low contribution to global emissions.
