Four of same family killed as speeding truck hits motorcycle in Obaro

Four members of a family, including a young child, were killed in a tragic traffic accident on Guddu Link Road near Obaro when a speeding truck crushed a motorcycle, police and rescue officials said on Monday.

According to officials, the victims were returning home from the city when a truck coming from behind at high speed struck their motorcycle, killing all four on the spot. The deceased included a husband and wife, their daughter-in-law and a grandson.

Police identified the victims as Subedar Girgej, Wasimullah Sekaldhi, his daughter-in-law Kulsoom, and their minor grandson.

Soon after receiving information, police reached the scene and shifted the bodies to Tehsil Hospital for medico-legal formalities. The truck driver managed to flee the scene after the incident, while the vehicle involved was taken into custody.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace and arrest the absconding driver.

Residents have expressed serious concern over the rising number of fatal traffic accidents in Obaro and surrounding areas. According to local sources, more than eight people, including men, women and children, have lost their lives in separate road accidents over the past week.

Citizens have called on the administration to take strict action, ensure enforcement of traffic laws, and adopt effective measures to prevent further loss of life.
