Govt working to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to domestic consumers in winter: Minister

The federal government has intensified efforts to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to domestic consumers during the winter season, with a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik reviewing the overall situation and relief measures.

Addressing the meeting, the minister said that on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, additional gas is being provided to households to ease difficulties during peak winter demand. He emphasized that providing maximum relief to the public during winter remains the government’s top priority.

Officials briefed the meeting that in December 2025, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) supplied an additional 95 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas compared to the same period last year. Similarly, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) provided an extra 32 MMCFD of gas in December, reflecting improved supply management.

Ali Pervaiz Malik said that modern IoT-based and town border systems have been installed to monitor gas pressure, particularly in tail-end areas of the network. He directed SSGC to further enhance pressure monitoring and alarm systems to ensure timely response in low-pressure zones.

The meeting was also informed that, according to an OGRA audit report, 98.5 percent of SNGPL’s and 97 percent of SSGC’s customer complaints were resolved within the stipulated time, highlighting improved service delivery. Appreciating this performance, the federal minister instructed gas companies to introduce a customer feedback system to assess satisfaction after the resolution of each complaint.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to maintaining stable gas supplies and improving consumer services throughout the winter season.
