Ishaq Dar returns after Beijing visit, co-chairs 7th Pak-China strategic dialogue

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar returned home after completing a successful three-day official visit to Beijing from January 3 to 5, according to Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi.

During the visit, Ishaq Dar became the first foreign minister to hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in 2026. The two leaders co-chaired the 7th Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue, reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral relations and cooperation.

The deputy prime minister also met China’s Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, the spokesperson said, and held separate meetings with Liu Haisheng, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), and Chen Xiaodong, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).

In addition, Ishaq Dar met Xu Jiqing, Vice President of China Minmetals Corporation (MCC), to discuss matters of mutual interest and cooperation, particularly in the economic and development sectors.

According to the spokesperson, the visit also marked the official launch of commemorative events to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

The visit reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to further strengthen their strategic partnership and deepen cooperation in diverse fields, the Foreign Office said.
