FIA busts Afghan e-visa scandal in Islamabad

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) unearthed a fake Afghan e-visa scam involving Rs40 million and filed a case against six accused in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to the details, some employees of the foreign ministry and Press Information Department (PID) were also involved in this scam. 

The Afghan nationals Samay Ullah Khan and Nadir Abbasi were the masterminds of this scam.

The accused used to collect money from Afghan nationals and issue them fake visas. The fake sponsorship and identity cards were used for visas.

A showroom, which is located in Sector G-8, Islamabad, was used as the head office of the network.

Federal Investigation Agency’s timely action led to arrest of two Afghan nationals on the spot.

FIA team also recovered mobile phones, fake documents and other records from the possession of the arrested accused.

Sources revealed that there are chances of involvement of some more government officials in this scam.
