US Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is likely to visit Pakistan later in the ongoing year, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday. 

“I will be visiting Pakistan later this year with Tahir Javed and a few other senators,” she said as she met noted Pakistani-US figure, Tahir Javed, at his residence in Houston, Texas yesterday.

The two leaders discussed the ongoing situation in Pakistan and the US senator expressed hope the political crisis in Pakistan will be overcome. 

Peace and democracy would prevail in the country, she said, adding that Pakistan is an old ally of US and the bilateral ties would be cemented.

She highlighted the role of Pakistanis in American politics and the leadership, saying: “The contribution of Pakistanis to the US politics is visible.”

Tahir Javed has already visited Pakistan with American lawmakers.
