Dacoits held the girl students, travelling in a university van, hostage and robbed them of valuables in the jurisdiction of Gulistan-e-Johar police station in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

According to police sources, the dacoits intercepted the van, held the girl students hostage and continued to rob them of valuables for 15 minutes.

The van was said to be of Ziauddin University.

5 dacoits held in encounter with police

Five dacoits were held in an encounter with Korangi Industrial Area police, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Two of them were arrested in injured condition after an exchange of fire with the police. They were identified as Arsalan and Asif. The names of the other three accused were: Shani, Asghar and Sameer.

The police recovered five pistols and seven stolen mobile phones from them. Three motorcycles were also recovered from them.

The injured dacoits were shifted to a hospital while the other three were moved to the police station for legal action.
