Govt employees announce sit-in outside parliament on June 10 ahead of Budget 2025-26

As the federal government prepares to present the budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, government employees from across Pakistan have announced a protest sit-in outside Parliament House on June 10, the day of the budget presentation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

The announcement was made by Rehman Bajwa, Chief Organiser of the All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA), who stated that employees from all provinces and regions would gather in Islamabad to demand the fulfilment of long-standing promises made by the government.

One of the key demands is the implementation of a written agreement signed between AGEGA and a sub-committee formed by the Prime Minister. The alliance is also demanding the merger of ad hoc relief allowances into the basic pay, alongside a revision of pay scales.

The protestors are calling for the minimum wage for laborers to be set at Rs. 50,000, and for a minimum 50% increase in salaries and pensions of federal government employees. AGEGA further urged the elimination of disparities in salaries across federal institutions and demanded provincial-level upgradation of all federal employees.

Among other key demands are the withdrawal of controversial pension reforms and the restoration of leave encashment benefits for federal employees.

“If our demands are met, we will celebrate a day of thanksgiving outside Parliament House,” AGEGA declared.
