Justice Sardar Liaqat Hussain appointed Chief Justice of AJK High Court

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, in his capacity as Chairman of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council, has formally approved the appointment of Justice Sardar Liaqat Hussain as the new Chief Justice of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

The official notification, issued under clause (2A) of Article 43 of the AJK Interim Constitution 1974, advises the President of AJK to appoint Justice Liaqat Hussain, the senior-most judge of the AJK High Court, as Chief Justice following the retirement of the incumbent. Justice Liaqat Hussain will assume office upon taking the oath.

According to official sources, the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for June 9 at 5:00 PM and will be held at Kashmir House in Islamabad.

Justice Liaqat Hussain hails from the Pilandri district and has previously served in the Lower Judiciary, gaining recognition for his integrity and legal acumen.

Justice Sardar Liaqat Hussain Shaheen is expected to serve as Chief Justice for a minimum term of two years, ushering in a new phase of judicial leadership in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
