World Bank delegation calls on KP Chief Minister

World Bank Country Director Naji Bin Hassan called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Wednesday.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, they held a meeting on various ongoing public development projects being supported by the World Bank in the province. 

The meeting focused on communication, energy, health, education, tourism, irrigation, and other sectors. 

Advisor Finance Muzammil Aslam and other officials were present in the meeting.  

Both parties explored new opportunities to expand collaboration between the provincial government and the World Bank.

Ali Amin Gander said that the World Bank has played an important role in development projects in KPK. 

 “I appreciated the role of the World Bank for various projects in KPK,” he added. 

The Chief Minister also said that the current provincial government is paying special attention to the sectors of road infrastructure, health, and education in the backward districts

There is potential for tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and new employment opportunities can be created by promoting it. 

The provincial government’s focus is on effective monitoring and digitization in every sector. This has increased provincial revenue by 50 percent without imposing new taxes. This money is being spent on the people, he added.  

Ali Amin Gandapur said the E-PAD system has been introduced in the works departments for the implementation and effective monitoring of the development project and the construction of Small dams for the promotion of the agricultural sector, and water management is underway 

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur highlighted that his provincial government is laying its power transmission line through which local electricity will be provided to industries at concessional rates. 

The World Bank team also shared details of the institution’s Country Partnership Framework for Pakistan with the Chief Minister. 

Country Director Naji Bin Hassan expressed that the KPK government has increased its revenue, a major achievement. 

He stressed that the World Bank's cooperation with the KPK government will continue. 

The Chief Minister thanked the World Bank for its support in implementing various development projects and appreciated the services of the outgoing Country Director and expressed his best wishes for him.
