Law Minister lauds performance of Advocate General Punjab Office

On the occasion of Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal’s visit to the Advocate General Punjab Office, the one-year performance of Muhammad Amjad Pervez as Advocate General was highly appreciated. 

During the meeting at the Advocate General Punjab Office, the overall performance of the law officers was compiled into a detailed report and presented to the Law Minister. 

According to the report, over the past year, through effective legal follow-up, the Punjab government earned more than PKR 4.67 trillion in revenue. During the same period, more than 80,000 acres of government land were recovered through successful litigation. Major cases involving the departments of minerals, excise and taxation, and other government agencies were also won, generating significant financial benefits for the government.

The report further stated that a total of 77,219 cases related to the Punjab government were resolved in the Supreme Court of Pakistan and Lahore High Court over the year. By practicing fiscal discipline, the Advocate General Office also saved PKR 200 million in budget expenses. In addition, timely appeals were filed against adverse court decisions to ensure the protection of government interests. 

The report highlighted that each law officer appears in an average of 30 to 40 cases daily in the Lahore High Court, and each officer handles approximately 1,500 government cases annually. It also noted that the Punjab government’s position was successfully defended in key cases related to wheat and sugar policies.

To strengthen coordination between the bar and the bench, measures were taken to conduct uncontested bar association elections in 36 districts across the province. Furthermore, law students were provided professional training through internship programs, and certificates were awarded to those who completed their internships. 

The report also mentioned that the Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau and the Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, along with other senior officials, praised Muhammad Amjad Pervez and his team for their performance.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal lauded the performance of Advocate General Muhammad Amjad Pervez and the law officers, stating that their effective defense of the government’s position and success in important cases represents a major achievement for the provincial government. He expressed confidence that the Advocate General’s office will continue to safeguard government interests with the same dedication in the future.
