ATC Rawalpindi dismisses plea to meet PTI founder, imposes Rs10,000 fine

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi has dismissed an application seeking permission to meet the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), declaring it unnecessary and frivolous, and imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on the applicant.

According to the court’s order, the application was filed by lawyer Faisal Malik in connection with the May 9 GHQ attack case, seeking permission to meet the PTI founder.

The court stated that the procedure for meetings at Adiala Jail had already been determined by the Islamabad High Court, and the trial court could not issue any order in contradiction to that framework.

It further noted that the PTI founder is currently on bail in the GHQ attack case and is not in judicial custody, making the request for meeting permission legally irrelevant in the present context.

The court also observed that similar applications had been filed earlier on the same matter, and instead of approaching the appropriate forum, the petitioner was repeatedly wasting the court’s time.

Declaring the application baseless, the court dismissed it and imposed a fine of Rs10,000, directing that the amount be deposited at the District Bar Rawalpindi dispensary. The court further ordered that the fine will be used for the treatment of underprivileged patients.
