Punjab forms inspection committees to ensure transparent procurement of medicines, equipment

The Punjab Health Department has initiated a major step to ensure transparency and quality in the procurement of medicines and surgical equipment by constituting inspection committees under the Framework Contract 2026–27.

According to official sources, the committees have been tasked with conducting physical verification of pharmaceutical companies and civil agents across the country. The inspections will be carried out in multiple cities from May 6 to May 14.

Officials said the committees will verify, on-site, the information and facilities submitted by suppliers, ensuring compliance with procurement standards.

Each committee is required to submit daily reports to the department, while the final report must be compiled and submitted within 10 days of the notification.

The inspection period will be treated as official duty for all committee members involved in the process.

The health department stated that the initiative aims to strengthen oversight mechanisms, prevent irregularities and ensure the supply of high-quality medicines and surgical equipment across Punjab’s healthcare system.
