A ban on the import of law books from India has been challenged in the Islamabad High Court (ICH) and the Chief Justice Friday summoned Attorney General for legal assistance in the petition.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the IHC on the application against the Pakistani government’s ban on law books import from India issued notice to the parties.
During the hearing on the application, Barrister Asfand Yar Khan appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioner and said India had been enlisted after Israel in the import policy.
He said due to Corona, the ban on medicines from India had been eased but the ban on books still remained in place that was unconstitutional.
The petitioner’s lawyer said numerous law books come from India because it was cheaper to order books from the neighbour country.
On this occasion, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah said, most of the foreign law books were coming from India.
