Pakistan’s spinner Abrar Ahmed marries in Karachi, to rejoin test squad after valima
Pakistan’s mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed tied the knot in Karachi on Saturday, marking a new milestone in his life ahead of the upcoming Test series against South Africa.
The 27-year-old cricketer, whose nikah had already taken place earlier, brought his bride Amina Rahim home in a ceremony attended by family, friends, and several fellow cricketers. His Valima reception is scheduled for Monday in Karachi.
The wedding celebrations began on Friday night with a lively mehndi ceremony, where videos of Abrar in a green shalwar kameez went viral on social media. The festivities continued on Saturday with fellow national players reportedly in attendance.
Following his Valima, Abrar will rejoin the Pakistan Test training camp in Lahore ahead of the two-match home series against South Africa, starting October 12.
Abrar, who made his international debut in 2022, has represented Pakistan in 10 Tests, 11 ODIs, and 23 T20Is, taking 93 wickets across formats, including two five-wicket hauls in Test cricket. He was also part of the national squad that reached the final of the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025.
