Secret behind Meghan Markle’s surprise Paris Fashion Week visit revealed
Meghan Markle’s surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week has been explained — and it turns out it was all about supporting a longtime friend.
A spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex told People that her visit was to back Pierpaolo Piccioli, who recently took over as Creative Director at Balenciaga in July.
“Over the years, the Duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo,” the spokesperson said. “They have worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage.”
The statement added that Meghan “has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance,” describing her presence at the event as a reflection of “many years of artistry and friendship.”
For the occasion, Meghan wore an ivory Balenciaga suit with a cape — a sophisticated look that marked her rare European appearance since moving to California.
Other high-profile guests at the event included Lauren Sánchez, wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and actress Anne Hathaway.
The Duchess also shared a glimpse of her Paris arrival with fans through an Instagram story, marking her discreet yet stylish return to the European fashion scene.
