Taylor Swift spots Cillian Murphy’s son in show audience

Taylor Swift had a heartwarming moment with Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy’s family during her latest appearance on The Graham Norton Show,  when she recognised the Irish actor’s teenage son, Aran, sitting in the audience.

The touching exchange took place on the popular BBC chat show, where Taylor appeared alongside Murphy, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Domhnall Gleeson, and Lewis Capaldi to promote her new album The Life of a Showgirl.

Murphy, 49, recalled meeting Taylor at an Oscars after-party earlier this year, where he had brought along his wife and sons. “We were at a party, and I had the whole gang,  my family, and my kids,” he told the host.

“I don’t think my kids were legally allowed to be there,” he joked.

Taylor smiled, remembering the encounter warmly. “I don’t know, but they were delightful. Your sons are the future of our world,” she said. “They were such great conversationalists, interesting and interested,  that’s a real accomplishment.”

As Murphy mentioned, his son, actress Greta Lee looked around and asked, “They’re here, aren’t they?” To which Murphy responded, “One of them is here, yeah — Aran. Wait, where is he?”

Moments later, Swift spotted the 17-year-old in the crowd, instantly recognizing him thanks to his resemblance to his father.

“Oh, he’s right there — you can tell!” she exclaimed with a grin, as the audience erupted in laughter.

Host Graham Norton joined in, saying, “Oh my God, he is so Cillian Murphy style! If this was a game show, we’ve all just won a prize.”

The fun moment added a personal touch to an otherwise star-studded episode, where Taylor also opened up about her long-awaited album and her upcoming wedding plans.

Speaking about The Life of a Showgirl, Swift revealed that the album became her “secret passion project” during her grueling Eras Tour. “Last year on the tour I was physically exhausted — sick and worn down — so to spark me up, I had the album behind the scenes. It stopped me hitting a wall,” she said.

When asked about her future wedding, Taylor playfully told Norton, “You’ll know. I want to do the album stuff first — the wedding comes after. I think it’ll be fun to plan.”

The pop star also celebrated reclaiming ownership of her early music catalog, calling it “a lifelong dream come true.” She shared, “Not owning it really pissed me off. I was happy to pay at a premium. Travis and I were in tears when it finally happened.”

The episode, which coincided with the release of her new record, marked one of Taylor’s major promotional stops in the UK. The global superstar is also set to appear on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers in the coming week.

It was a night of laughter, nostalgia, and sweet surprises — and for Cillian Murphy’s son Aran, a moment in the spotlight thanks to Taylor Swift’s sharp eye.
