CJP convenes full court meeting on Sept 8 to review SC Rules 2025

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi has convened a full court meeting on September 8, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to sources, the session is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm and will focus on a one-point agenda.

The meeting will review amendments made to the Supreme Court Rules 2025, which were earlier approved through circulation and passed by a majority vote, insiders added.

However, some judges expressed the view that the rules should instead be ratified through a full court meeting.

Despite raising objections, the dissenting judges did not submit any formal proposals within the 15-day window, the sources said.

They added that the session will also consider suggestions submitted by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).

The SCBA had sent written proposals to the apex court, including a demand to roll back the recent increase in court fees.

Before the meeting, the Supreme Court will host a ceremony marking the start of the new judicial year. On the same occasion, a newly established facilitation centre at the court will also be inaugurated.
