Man dies, 3 rescued after picnickers’ boat capsized in Wazirabad river

Rescue personnel recovered the dead body of a man, while three others were rescued after their boat capsized in the River Chenab in Wazirabad on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Rescue sources said that five people were picnicking and later boating in the River Chenab without wearing life jackets. 

The rescue sources further revealed that the incident occurred when the boat was overturned due to overspeeding.

A search operation is still underway to recover the fifth missing person from River Chenab. It is necessary to mention here that the Punjab government imposed a complete ban on boating.

Despite the ban imposed by the Punjab government on boating, grave questions have been raised about the performance of the district administration.
