Coronavirus death toll reaches 50, total cases jump to 3,328

The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan jumped to 3,277 on Monday as the National Command Control Centre said 50 people had so far died because of the pandemic.

According to official figures, Punjab tops the list with 1,493 cases followed by Sindh 932, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 405, Gilgit-Baltistan 210, Balochistan 191, Islamabad 82 and Azad Kashmir 15.

The pandemic is proving to be deadliest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where it has so far claimed 16 lives. The death toll in Punjab and Sindh stands at 15 each followed by three in Gilgit-Baltistan and one in AJK.

As of now, 15 patients are in critical condition while a total of 257 have recovered.

On the other hand, the number of coronavirus patients in Lahore has reached 290 after addition of 30 infected people.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar shared the details in a series of tweets.

Meanwhile, the total deaths in the city stand at six after the 60-year-old woman passed away at Mayo Hospital.

In Sindh, the tally of confirmed coronavirus cases reached at 932 on Monday with the addition of 51 new cases.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the provincial government has so far conducted 9,589 COVID-19 tests.

Sindh Information Minister Murtaza Wahab said that until now 130 people infected with novel coronavirus have recovered and 17 died in the province.
