Mufti Qavi again in trouble – for advice to transgender people
April 6, 2021 06:57 PM
Mufti Abdul Qavi, who is notorious for creating controversies involving social media celebrities unsuitable to his status as a religious scholar, has landed himself yet into another controversy over transgender people issue, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Mufti Qavi has recently advised transgender people to get married during a TV programme.
However, his statement does not bode well with some certain quarters as a lawyer Hafiz Mushtaq Ahmed Naeemi has filed an application against Mufti Qavi in a session court to register a case against him for his statement.
Additional Session Judge Masood Warraich heard the application. The applicant stated that Mufti Qavi’s statement was unnatural and would lead to open a way for committing sins and spreading vulgarity in the society.

He was of the view that the purpose of marriage was not for fun only but for reproduction. He said the transgender people do not have the ability to reproduce and prayed to the court to give orders to register a case against Muft Qavi. The court has sought a reply from the police in this regard till April 14.
However, talking to the Rohi channel, Mufti Qavi said he did not say anything at his own accord in the TV programme and instead gave reference from the books of the religious scholars.
He said if a transgender person claims that he has either male or female abilities then that transgender person may get married.
He also claimed that whatever he has said is also mentioned in the Holy Quran and if he has said something wrong he is ready to apologise.
He said these are all traditions and a case cannot be registered against him over this statement.
Mufti Qavi said he wholeheartedly respects Pakistan, law and courts.
